Born in Herat on 2 January 1988 and forced to leave Afghanistan at the age of 9 alongside her family, Nadia Nadim began to play football once settled in Denmark. Her first experiences were with B52 Aalborg, Team Viborg and IK Skovbakken before going to Fortuna Hjørring in 2012 where she scored 31 goals in 43 appearances between her arrival and 2014, also making her debut in the Women's Champions League. She continued to thrive as one of the star strikers of her generation after moving to the USA where she played for Sky Blue FC and Portland Thorns FC. After a brief spell back at Fortuna Hjørring, she returned to Europe in 2018, playing for Manchester City, before becoming the vice-captain of Paris Saint-Germain between 2019 and 2021 with whom she also won the league in 2020/21. Back in the USA in the summer of 2021, she played for Racing Louisville. Also of note is her international career with Denmark, picking up over 100 appearances and reaching the Euro 2017 finals, as well as her degree in Medicine achieved in January 2022. She came to the Rossonere in January 2024, making 11 appearances during the rest of the 2023/24 season and extending her contract to June 2026.
