A very talented 25 year-old (185 cm and 79 kg) born in Canada but a naturalised Englishman. His name in full: Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola Fikayo Tomori. His occupation: an athletic and physical central defender who possesses quality on the ball, that makes him both a crunching defender yet capable of playing out from the back.
His early years of being a footballer were with Chelsea, where he developed in their youth academy. He made his first-team debut in May 2016 but wouldn't play another game for them until 2019, after going out on loan to several Championship clubs in between: Brighton & Hove Albion, Hull City and Derby County. In total, he made 118 appearances and scored four goals. Previously, he had won the UEFA Youth League twice with Chelsea, in 2014/15 and 2015/16, adding a goal as well in the 2016 final in Nyon. With England, he won the 2017 Under-20 World Cup in South Korea and earned his first senior cap on 17 November 2019.
Arriving at AC Milan in January 2021, his impact was immediate and significant. As of June 2023, he has made 107 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals: two against Juventus (in May 2021 and October 2022) the other against Liverpool in the Champions League. The English defender’s performances have always been of a very high standard, culminating in AC Milan keeping the most clean sheets and having the best defence in the 2021/22 Serie A season, with only nine goals conceded in the second half of a Scudetto-winning season.
