Alessandro Florenzi, a versatile all-rounder, was born in Rome on 11 March 1991. Right from the outset as a young player, particularly in the AS Roma youth Academy, he operated predominantly on the right-hand side, being appreciated both as right-back and in midfield, but also in attack.

After captaining the Primavera to the title in 2011, the following season he was sent out on loan to Serie B side Crotone, making 35 starts and scoring eleven goals. On the orders of Head Coach Zdeněk Zeman, he returned to AS Roma and began a long spell at the club, lasting over nine years. In total, he played 279 times and scored eight goals for the Giallorossi, with his Champions League goal against Barcelona in 2015 being nominated for the Puskás Award. His arrival in Milan was preceded by two stays abroad: Valencia (14 appearances in 2019/20) and Paris Saint-Germain, where he played 36 times, grabbed two goals and won the French Cup and Super Cup in 2020/21. Meanwhile, his first season with AC Milan was very successful as he contributed to the Rossoneri’s 19th league title. In two seasons, he has made 36 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals, against Empoli and Hellas Verona.

In national colours, Florenzi first established himself in the Under-21 team, starting in the final of the Euro 2013 tournament, before being called up to the senior squad. He won his first cap at 21 and has gone on to play 49 times for the Azzurri, netting twice. He was a regular starter at Euro 2016 and experienced the joy of lifting the trophy at Euro 2020, where he returned from the injury he suffered in Italy’s opening game against Turkey, to play in the final against England at Wembley.
