FIRST ASSESSMENT OF THE SECOND PHASE FOR THE ROSSONERE

Victories, goals, and convincing performances: the best run of form this season

The second phase of AC Milan Women's campaign couldn't have started in a better way. Two games, two victories, both with four goals scored. A balance enriched by the successes that had concluded the regular season - those against Sampdoria and Inter - and that already set Corti's team on the path towards conquering the sixth position in the table. In fact, they have a three-point lead over seventh-placed Sampdoria, with the Rossonere also having played one game less.

There were four scorers of the eight goals scored against Pomigliano and Como Women: top scorer Dompig, with three goals that bring her total so far to six, followed by Laurent (a brace in Seregno against Como) and Vigilucci, who scored a goal in both games. The eighth goal was scored by Ijeh, the recent arrival during the winter transfer window, steadily improving in fitness and performance, along with the entire forward line.

The improvements, from the offensive perspective, have been evident since the start of the year. In the games played in 2023, the Rossonere only managed to score more than one in two matches (out of 11), the 4-2 loss to Roma and the 4-1 victory over Pomigliano. However, in 2024, the Rossonere have managed two or more goals in six of their nine matches. This turnaround is testimony to the hard work in training, which has focused on attacking play, during the sessions at the PUMA House of Football

"Up front, we are reaping the rewards of a style of play that involves all departments", said the manager, Corti, after the latest victory at Como Women. "The girls believe in what we are doing". There are two more weeks to conclude the first half of the second phase (Napoli at the PUMA House of Football, Sampdoria away), the objective is to maintain the winning run to give us the best possible foundation for next season.
