WOMEN'S U17: THE BEST IS YET TO COME

Coach Treccani's side have begun the second phase of their season

After dominating the "regular season", Fabio Treccani's Women's U17 side started their 2022/23 Inter-regional Phase campaign on Sunday. The young Rossonere ended the Regional Phase, in Group D, with maximum points, after winning 14 games out of 14, showing they are ready to defend the title won last season under Coach De Martino.

The first game in this second phase of the season opened up with a 2-2 draw against Fiorentina, courtesy of goals from Zanisi (29') and Stendardi (38') in the first half. It remains a good result, though, to kick off Group B, which also contains Jesina, Polisportiva Arzilla (Pesaro), Sassuolo and Cesena.

The top two in each group will automatically go through to the National quarter-finals stage, out of which will be decided the Champions of Italy. At the end of 2022, Coach Treccani said that "the best was yet to come" and that his team were ready to achieve something special this season, too.

This group of players have already shown how much they enjoy playing together, but also with great enthusiasm and work ethic. With these ingredients, anything and everything is possible; the objective remains the same, to once again be among the best eight sides in Italy. Their next fixture isn't far off, with Cesena coming to PUMA House of Football on Saturday 25 February at 16:00 CET for matchday 2 in the Inter-regional Phase.
